about

"Really trying not to be a cynic, but it’s the space I’m in. Hard to sift through the noise and really see the state of things. Most days it feels like its a sinking ship, or a slow suffocation of quick sand. In the past I’ve kept my chin up and looked forward to a brighter future, but you can’t help but feel the gravity of the present moment. Sure things are going to get better, but it certainly feels bleak sometimes. Been teetering on the edge of whether to care or not care, to go with the flow so-to-speak. Now I find myself settling into this almost optimistic melancholy; things are going to get better, but first they must get far worse."

Bruce Allen Smith Jr.

lyrics

Take it anyway you want,
Its not going to change the fault
We’re moving with such certainty
Not gonna see the outcome
Everybody shakes the blame
Deal with it another day
And make the case for sleeping in
We’re not going to change the outcome

I think it’s gonna tear me open
But I can’t check out
We’re our own worst enemy

Living in a sinking state
Deal with it another day
Distract ourselves with compliments
Look at all we’ve accomplished
Standing on the precipice
But nobody’s looking in
We’re dancing with such certainty
Someone will catch me if I fall

Think it might tear me open
But I can’t check out
We’re our own worst enemy
